Artist's Description

The now silent cannons have now been sitting quiet for 150 years but are ready to defend if needed. This is a digital painting of two of the cannons that sit on the Gettysburg battlefield. In the distance is The George Weikert farm that is at the corner where United States Avenue, Sedgwick Avenue and Slocum Avenue come together. It is one of several Weickert farms in the area at the time of the battle, with three belonging to George's sons and another to a distant cousin. There is also a George W. Weickert farm, also known as the Timbers farm, south of Brooke Avenue.
